The ZX SpectROM is an interface for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum that allows games to be loaded virtually instantly. Simply plug the ZX SpectROM in to the back of the computer, add power and you’re ready to go.
There’s no need to plug in your tape recorder (do you still have a tape recorder? Can you find it? Does it still work?) and wait 10 minutes for a game to load. Or, more likely, wait 10 minutes for the “R Tape loading error 0:1” until you get the volume and tone settings just right. Assuming, of course, that your 25 year old cassette hasn’t degraded…
The ZX SpectROM works with all varieties of Sinclair ZX Spectrum from the original 48k rubber keyboard version up to the latest Spectrum +3. Despite the +2 and +3 having slightly different pinouts on the edge connector, a simple jumper can set the ZX SpectROM for either early or later Spectrum editions.
Of course, some games are best played with a joystick, so the ZX SpectROM is available with a built in Kempston compatible joystick port. You can even use the joystick port on its own if you are playing a game loaded from tape or disc.
So, what are you waiting for? In less time than it takes to load a game from cassette you could check out the suppliers listed on the Buy page and place an order for your favorite game!
